Trumpfass, webmaster of the first Torment fansite ever (the site's in German) informed me that he has three beautiful Torment Winamp skins available. Get 'em at his site...
Leo informed me that his Tormented party project is going to start ASAP. He has written a little prologue for it now. What is this project you ask? Well, basically, what happens is that you yank a savegame off his site, play for a while, then send him a later savegame, together with a new chapter for his Torment story. So basically what we'll get is one big Torment story, written by different players. It's really cool. Check it out, and by all means, participate!
He also has a little contest running...

Scott updates his Designer Notes
by Calis - 03/18/00 06:45 EST... so head over to his site and read 'em. Scott Warner is a designer at Black Isle Studios who is currently working on Icewind Dale. He is also involved in the preliminary design work on a game that is currently unannounced.
The designer notes update is a bit of a rant about an article some guy wrote. I can't say I blame Scott for getting into a bit of a rant here...

Fergiewergie, Big Boss at BIS, has been interviewed at Evil Avatar. The interview mainly deals with the Lithtech engine. A very interesting read. Here's a little quote to get your attention:
Evil: There is a rumor going around that Black Isle will be using the LithTech engine to create a 3D version of Fallout. ie, Fallout 3. Can you / Will you comment on that rumor?
Feargus: I've heard the rumor about Fallout 3 as well. :) Since we aren't working on it yet, I can't really say if that is definitely what we are going to do. I am sure it will be on the table as to one of the possibilities when the team working on Icewind Dale finishes up. As to whether we will use the Lith Tech engine - again without us working on it yet - I can't really say for sure. At that point the Stonekeep II and/or the Neverwinter/Aurora engine might be done and we would need to choose the best engine for the game that we would want to make. It's important to point out that we don't have an agreement with Bioware to actually use their engine, so we'd still need to work that out with them if we wanted to go with the Neverwinter/Aurora engine.

I was so sure it wouldn't be Fallout 3, but this changes everything. As a good webmaster, I tried to bully all available Black Isle people into giving me more info, but to no avail. So the option of another Planescape game is still open, but I doubt that is what they're working on. My guess? Well, several Black Isle people have said in the past that they would "probably" do Fallout 3, and that it would use a 3D engine... oh well, we'll just have to wait and see... damn those computer game dudes for giving us little scraps of info :-)

Part II of Torment special report
by Calis - 02/15/00 12:21 ESTRPGVault just put it up! Go read it!
Jeff Vogel, creator of the popular Exile games, just posted his new column on CGO, about (you guessed it) Torment. (news source: GA-RPG)
I have to write about Planescape: Torment. There's just no way around it. It's just too big a deal. It's a brilliant game. Its amazing points are so amazing that its flaws barely register on the senses. It's packed full of creativity, good ideas, and scenes and conversations that genuinely register on the emotions.
And why is that? Because of words.
Still don't have one? Here's your chance! Gamerzuniverse has a song contest:
This our very first contest. You can thank Rollie for the idea. We are giving away Planescape: Torment to whoever can write a song that best describes there favorite game.

My pal Sermon, one of the Dynamic Duo behind the first Torment fansite ever (German), informed me that he is working on a fansite for the Bard's Tale series. So if you're into retro gaming, get yo butt over to the lil' teaser he's put up.
Anders Kronquist just e-mailed me the final version of his command-line based Torment editor, called Tormenthack 1, which you can find in the downloads. He is currently working on an editor with a graphical interface, of which he will also post the source.
it was about time I did...
