This one could go either way, although one might adopt the opinion that it is a mix, i.e. TNO fought in the Blood War, but it's still metaphorical for the hell he is going through (that, like you said, he can't get out of). 8. Metaphorical is more likely. I don't see why it would be historical. Waste of graphics/memory. Definetly metaphorical of how TNO tries to rewach for the light. I don't remember the movie, but MAYBE the figures represent that he is sort of alone in his struggle while people look on.
